Tricks for Editing Panasonic GH3 AVCHD in Avid Symphony Mac

Avid Symphony is non-linear editing software aimed at professionals in the TV and movie industry. Its interface is based on the same look and feature set as the Media Composer and Xpress systems, but features the highest level of features and resolution including secondary color correction, uncompressed HD, and higher real-time performance. However if you want to natively import and edit AVCHD .mts/.m2ts videos, you still have to use the AVCHD AMA Plug-in, but as we all know AVCHD doesn't work well with Mac OS X, it means if we try importing AVCHD to Mac Avid Symphony with AMA for editing, we are likely to meet some incompatible troubles.

I have some .mts clips with different resolutions from Panasonic Lumix GH3. I tried to install AMA plugin for AVCHD, but it works only with high resolutions (HD) for Symphony 6.5 on Mac v10.8. How can I link/import all files? Please help. Thanks.

To smoothly ingest Panasonic Lumix GH3 MTS videos to Avid Symphony for further editing, you'd better transcode unsupported MTS or all AVCHD files to videos with a compatible format for Mac Symphony before ingesting, thus you can directly bring the files to Symphony without any plugin.

After the conversion, click the Open button, you can get the transcoded videos there. Now, you can put and edit Lumix GH3 footage in Mac Symphony instantly.
