Have you got a Canon EOS 2K C300 or 4K C500 camcorder? If so, you may know that the cams support the highest HD quality with Full HD 1920×1080 resolution with Canon XF codec, up to 50Mbps bit rate and 4:2:2 color sampling. But if you would like to edit the recorded .mxf video on iMac with iMovie 11, which may meet some incompatible troubles.

If you want to edit such files to iMovie without any error message, you will need a third part application to convert such MXF to a editable format before importing to iMovie. Brorsoft MXF Converter for Mac is an ideal and professional tool to help you transcode Canon MXF to edit. Below is how. You will find it has the easy-to-use interfacce.

Step 1. Import files to the MXF to iMovie Converter.

Tip: Please make sure you have insert CF card or connect your C300 or C500 cam to your Mac computer.

Step 2. Choose MOV with Apple Intermediate Code AIC output format and save the file path.

Step 3. Edit and deiterlace 1080i MXF footages. (optional)

Step 4. Convert Canon C300/C500 MXF to AIC MOV for 8/9/11 on Mac.

Tips:

1) To get the best quality, you can freely set video resolution(1920*1080, 1440*1080, 1280*720, 720*280, ect), frame rate (24/30p) and bitrate (1Mbps to 20Mbps) before the conversion. I suggest you set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 to keep the perfect video quality for editing in iMovie.
