Custom Controls for Android (X-Library)

Postby ScruffyFox » Mon Dec 12, 2011 4:17 pm

Hi All,

I've been writing an open source library for all my applications I write at work, and thought it might be useful for other people making android apps. Its free and open source and most of the controls are pretty cool :)

You can get it at http://github.com/ScruffyFox/X-Library, demo code at http://github.com/ScruffyFox/X-Library-Demo and documentation at http://scruffyfox.github.com/X-Library

Some apps that i've built using it include First Aid by British Red Cross (http://market.android.com/details?id=com.cube.rca), Jackson Stops and Staff (https://market.android.com/details?id=u ... s.property) and more to come.

Feel free to fork it and add your own stuff to it, if you feel it should be in the official release, make a request and ill add it in :)

Feedback is always needed

Callum

Hi,

Add it as a library project in your project, make sure your project's target is set to 2.2 Libraries (+ google maps) or higher.

Hi ScruffyFox -

I downloaded your library & demos. I imported them both to eclipse, marked library "is library" in properties and added this library to demos. I had a lot of different errors (even working with Google API) and finally I removed MapOver...java & IconsOver...java. The library itself looks good - without errors, but the demos and library I see inside of the demos project - I have a lot of errors: layout xml files are crying for some attributes while in java files - they cannot resolve any R.<something>.... I'm new in android & basically in java too.... I understand it is not enough information, but I guess I just missed something big. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

If you try going project > clean then cleaning the project, it may fix some problems, could you post the error log or a screenshot of the errors?

You may have to remove the reference to the x library in the demo project, click apply, then re add it in. Sometimes that happens to me in eclipse.

There's a tutorial on my blog on how to install the library if it helps: http://blog.callumtaylor.net/archives/106
