|
|
Hello Community,
seconds ago the results were sent out. All users have been informed via e-mail.
Winners received the following:
| Android Developer Challenge Team wrote: | During the past few weeks, 100+ judges around the world reviewed over
1,700 applications. They were extremely impressed with the diversity
and the large number of high quality entries submitted. We're pleased
to inform you that your entry is among the top 50 submissions and that
you will be awarded $25,000 USD. Your application has demonstrated
originality, indispensability, intuitiveness, and good use of the
Android platform - which are all attributes that our judges looked for
while evaluating submissions to the challenge.
We'd like to bring a few items to your attention:
1. Due to the high quality of the submissions, many of the judges who
are also members of the Open Handset Alliance have shown interest in
contacting some of the participants regarding their applications to
explore further opportunities.
2. We would also like to publish a list of the Semifinalists and their
entries this coming Monday, 5/12. In particular, this would include
your name, a screenshot, and a short description about your
application. The description we'll be including regarding your
application is attached to this email.
To protect your privacy, we will not publish or share your information
without your prior consent. If you are interested in having your
information published and/or being contacted by a judge for potential
further opportunities, please use the following form to give us your
consent:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=XXX
You may also submit changes to the description of your entry at the
above location. The requirements for the description are: Description
(20 words max); Bullets (3 bullets, 46 words max); Tag line (10 words
max). You may change the screenshots later.
We need all responses to the above form submitted no later than 9a PDT
Monday, May 12.
3. If you happen to be in San Francisco, CA on May 28-29, we hope that
you'll join us at Google I/O, Google's largest developer event, where
we will be holding many technical sessions on Android and other
relevant technologies. We're providing you with a complimentary pass
hoping that you'll attend as our guest. Many Android team members will
be present and are looking forward to meeting you.
If you're interested in attending Google I/O please fill in the
appropriate information in the above form and we'll get you your
complimentary event pass.
We will be contacting you next week regarding the payment process and
next steps involving the final round of the challenge.
Congratulations and thank you again for participating in the
challenge!

morrildl It would be lame not to |
I'd love to hear some user of anddev.org being on of the winners
[Update #1]
Loosers (like me) received the following:
| Quote: | Dear participant,
During the past few weeks, 100+ judges around the world reviewed over 1,700 applications. They were extremely impressed with the diversity and the large number of high quality entries submitted. It is clear that the number of great applications far exceeds the 50 top scoring applications that will move on to the final round of the Android Developer Challenge.
We regret to inform you that your entry was not among the top 50 submissions. However, we'd like to bring a couple of interesting opportunities to your attention:
1. Due to the high quality of the submissions many of the judges who are also members of the Open Handset Alliance have showed interest in contacting some of the participants regarding their applications to explore further opportunities.
2. In the near future, we'll be creating an Android Developer Challenge Gallery where you can showcase your application. We'll be providing more details shortly on how you can participate in this gallery.
If you're interested in either one of these opportunities, please fill out the following form:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/google.com/viewform?key=XXXX
As we've announced earlier, we'll be running a second Android Developer Challenge later this year. This will give you another opportunity to showcase your application and compete for top prizes. We'll be announcing the details of the second Android Developer Challenge in the near future.
If you happen to be in San Francisco, CA on May 28-29, we hope that you'll join us at Google I/O, Google's largest developer event, where we will be holding many technical sessions on Android and other relevant technologies. The team will be present there and is looking forward to meeting you.
Thank you again for participating in the challenge.

[Update #2]
Loosers have received an accidentially wrong email.
| Java: | https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/google.com/viewform?key=XXXX |
should be:

[Update #3]

Hi all
I'm just passing by to say that i'm among the 50 winners.
I'm sorry to learn that you where not among the winners , i guess because of the lack of novelty of andnav.
i was really willing to thank you for the great community you build here.Without you , i'm sure i wouldn't have been able to stand where i am tonight.
i think you should have submited your whole community as your biggest achievement for Android.
I'm sure that all your hard work here will pay and that you will find plenty of opportunity to put to use what you learn during the last month (why not with me as a big part of my application is kind of a Routing system but i really don't want to rewrite a full GPS application , as i don't see the value on it ....)
Regards
Chris |

Congratulation to all winners.
I'm so impatient to see your killer apps running on "Da" phone.

Yes indeed, I got the losing Email too. Oh well at least it means I have a life, instead of working every available hour until the end of June.
Sad and surprised to hear PlusMinus wasn't among the winners.
I did of course fill in the release allowing judges to contact me. Will see if anything comes of that. |

I was not a winner either, but quite possibly without the help of Anddev I would not even have been a participant. Even though plusminus did not win, I doubt there are many that did that will make a bigger contribution to Android.
That being said, a hearty congratulations to the ones that did one and best wishes for round 2! |

Our project - BOINC for Android - didn't win too.
The upside is that now our code will be given back to the Open Source community, so actually our project is just starting
Like everyone here - plusminus, thanks for everything, and I don't think there's a single member here who didn't think you'll win. But as already said - you'll get your gratitude soon enough
Cheers everyone,
see you in the next half of the contest (it sounds like all the non-winners (a.k.a. losers ) gave up - But our fight still prevails! If you're app is a killer and you know it, I believe it will come to recognition in the second half).
Congrats to the winners,
Condolences to the losers,
Kudos to PlusMinus,
Oded. |

Your hard work and great ideas have been judged by the handset alliance consisting of
"handset makers, application developers and mobile carriers".
The reality is that it is the consumer who gets to be the final judge. Read the story of the
developers of the spreadsheet. I had a long conversation with the Director of Software Acquisition
at Tandy Corporation many many years ago who told me that many people told them that their
software would "never sell". It went on to become the most sought after program ever developed.
So, ask yourself if your product is something YOU would buy and then find a way to get it out to the public.
Google has given all developers a great start. |
