re: Licensing you could do a lot worse than a creative commons license. A creative commons attribution license would fit what you've asked for. You could also tack on non-commercial and share-alike provisions if you like.

I concur with Babau.

A Creative Commons license is definately one to use.

Check these out:

http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Comics

is a great little graphical explanation of the process,

http://creativecommons.org/license/

is a web-app thing to choose the right license.

I concur with Babau - maybe the one you want is the CC by-nc-sa (Attribution, Non-commercial and Share-Alike). The Share-alike provision is SORT OF similar to the GPL, in that any derivative works must also be under the same Share-alike. The Non-Commercial provision guarantees that people can't reprint your work and sell it on a commercial basis, without your permission 1st.

What is :Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 Germany License

Isn't there also a 3.0 Version :? that "wizard" put out the 2.0 version... shall I adapt :?: :!: :?:

Version 3.0 of the license hasn't yet been ported to the German legal system, which is why the wizard suggested version 2.0.

There's information about the German jurisdiction of Creative Commons here:

http://de.creativecommons.org/

But as I don't speak German I'm a little hampered as to what I can tell you about it. It looks like the porting process is well advanced, however.

There's a brief run-down on the differences between 2.0 and 3.0 here:

http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/7249

Short Answer:

You should be fine with the German version of 2.0. There's not enough amazing stuff in 3.0 to warrant using the generic version over the German one. You can always update to the German 3.0 when it's out if you feel a pressing need to.

Put it on a Wiki?

Postby izamryan » Wed Mar 26, 2008 6:10 am

How about putting the text into a Wiki, or a similar CMS. Once it's in a CMS I think we can use some tools to PDF-fiy it to convert it to a book.

That might make it easier to collaborate 8) 8) 8)
