The reason I plant in a circle of bulbs is that they put on a better show than if planted singly and I can plant a spreading annual around the circle to cover in where they are growing for the summer. If you plant that annual only where the bulb is and for some reason you ever want to dig up those bulbs you know exactly where they are. After your bulbs are finished blooming cut off the dead flowers but leave the foliage until it turns brown. The foliage feeds the bulb for next years blooms.
